The fresh beauty of spring is again a reminder of God’s vast and marvelous creation, which fills the world with wonder and the enrichment of life with all He has given. It is fitting that in the beauty of springtime we celebrate Mother’s Day.
God chose women with the honor of bearing children. With honor comes responsibility. We are to “train up a child in the way it should go.” The Bible is the perfect manual for instruction. The first mother was Eve. Her name means “living.”
When there are challenges, go to the Bible for instruction. Mothers have a spiritual tool box which they may use each day. Even great saints of the Bible struggled with trials. God’s Word always provides the answers.
Prayer: “The righteous cry and the Lord hears, and delivers them out of their troubles.” (Psalm 34:17)
Trust: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding.” (Proverbs 3:5)
Faith: “Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” (Hebrews 11:1)
Patience: “I waited patiently for the Lord, and He inclined to me, and heard my cry.” (Psalm 40:1)
Proverbs paints this picture of a faithful mother. “She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness. She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness. Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all. Favour is deceitful, and beauty if vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.” (Proverbs 31:26-31)
Happy Mother’s Day!
